VRG GRL is committed to using better materials.
We’re always learning and improving on what we do, and we’re sure that in time, there will be new conversations about fibres and cutting edge textiles on the market, but here’s some of the materials we’re using based on what we know so far:
LINEN
A highly breathable, comfortable and sustainable option, made from entirely natural fibres with a lower environmental impact. Linen is strong and durable making it the perfect fabric to increase the life cycle of products.
The slubs and textural variations are a natural characteristic of linen and will vary across each piece. Our Linen has been tested for chemicals and heavy metals and meets the non-detection guidelines as set by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
BAMBOO
Bamboo fabric is a textile made from the pulp of bamboo grass. The process of making bamboo fabric involves extracting cellulose from bamboo stalks, which is then spun into yarn and woven or knitted into fabric.
The environmental benefits of bamboo fabric are significant. Bamboo plants grow rapidly and require minimal water, pesticides, or fertilisers. They also help improve soil health and absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide, contributing to a reduction in greenhouse gases.
COTTON
One of the most commonly used fibres for textile production, Cotton is a soft, fluffy staple fibre that grows in a protective case, or boll, around the seeds of cotton plants of the genus Gossypium.
The fibre is spun into yarn or thread and used to make a soft, breathable, and durable fabric.
CUPRO
A regenerated cellulose fibre that comes from cotton waste. It’s a by-product of cotton production which makes it inherently a recycled textile.
This means it uses all the leftovers of the cotton plant that are typically tossed away. Because it comes from plants, Cupro is also 100% vegan, 100% cruelty free, and is machine-washable.
SPECIALTY FABRICS
Our specialty fabrics are carefully selected by our in-house design team for their unique qualities and distinctive design elements. These include intricate lace, delicate beading, embellishments, and exclusive in-house prints.
Each specialty fabric is selected to elevate our collections, showcasing our commitment to quality craftsmanship and design innovation.
DENIM
Denim is a strong, durable fabric made primarily from cotton fibres, making it a natural, breathable, and comfortable choice. Known for its versatility, denim evolves and relaxes with every wear, becoming a timeless wardrobe staple to carry you through the seasons.
Traditional blue denim is achieved by weaving indigo-dyed threads with white threads, and garments can undergo industrial washing processes to achieve the perfect tone of blue.
TENCEL
Tencel is a brand name for a type of fibre known as lyocell, which is produced from sustainably sourced wood pulp, typically from eucalyptus trees.
The production of Tencel involves a closed-loop process that recycles water and reuses the solvent, making it a more environmentally responsible option compared to many other fibres. Tencel fibres are renowned for their softness, strength, and breathability.
