24 HOURS IN CAPRI WITH DAPHNE

VRG GRL x Daphne Groeneveld in Capri for our latest campaign; The Dance.

INSPIRATION FOR THE SHOOT

The beautiful island of Capri was the perfect backdrop to shoot our latest campaign. The collection features feminine, detailed pieces and layered looks. We loved the textures, colours and amazing elevated sea views on the beautiful island; we couldn't think of a better place to shoot. Daphne Groeneveld is iconic and she was the perfect muse for our collection.

GETTING THERE

We flew from Brisbane to Naples. Once we landed in Naples, it was then a quick drive to the ferry and within an hour we landed in Capri. Capri is so scenic on arrival, and also bustling with hundreds of people arriving by boat.

HOTEL STAY

We arrived at our hotel in Anacapri, which had the most amazing views of Capri and the sea. We hung all of the campaign outfits as per our styling cards and laid out all of the shoes and accessories so that we were organised in preparation for the shoot. We had a fresh dinner of bruschetta, pasta and our first wine of the trip, and then were ready for an early night after 30 hours of travel.

FIRST DAY/RECCE DAY

We were up early for double espressos and pastries at the hotel. We met with the photographer at breakfast to discuss the shoot, and commenced our recce day by choosing our favourite shoot locations around the hotel and best time of day for lighting.

We then made our way to Villa San Michele; the next shoot location. We tested the lighting in our favourite areas and then stopped for a juice at the villa’s cafe to take in the beautiful space.

We enjoyed a poolside lunch where the food was amazing and managed to do a little tanning before making our way to the next location.

We then visited Hotel Excelsior at the time of day we planned to shoot, we scouted our favourite locations on-site and decided which outfits to shoot here.

Lastly we made our way to the marina where it's a busy and fun atmosphere. There are beautiful beaches and lots of boats and we planned to shoot our last few looks here at dusk.

As the day went on, our model Daphne arrived in Capri, as well as our Videographer, HMUA and Producers.

We met for a pre-shoot dinner altogether which was so beautiful, and had a restful night ready for an early start.

SHOOT DAY

It was an early start for hair and makeup, and we all met for coffee on the terrace of the hotel.

As the sun was rising we shot our first look of the day; the iconic chocolate bow dress.

We shot for the first half of the day, then had a nice big break and all enjoyed lunch, the sun and a couple of us squeezed in a swim at the beach.

We commenced shooting again in the early afternoon. We made our way from the hotel location, to the marina, where we hired a boat and shot one of our favourite looks; the silky silver top and cupro skirt. After the boat ride, we shot our final look in the busy street where everyone arrives by boat, and by 8pm it was a wrap! The sun was going down as we packed up from the shoot, and headed out for well deserved pizza and red wine.

POST SHOOT

We all met for a final breakfast at the hotel before the team started heading off from Capri. At breakfast we had a sneak peek at the campaign images.

We stayed in Capri for a couple of days to lap up the sun, beaches and delicious food. During the day we spent a few hours swimming and sunning at a small beach that overlooked Faraglioni.

There were so many beautiful streets to wander while shopping and we ate a late lunch at our favourite spot by the hotel pool. We had dinner in Capri town and visited some amazing stores on our list like the new Jacquemus store that had just opened. After making the most of being in Capri, we caught the ferry back to Naples for our final night and flew home from there - while Natalia made her way to Copenhagen to meet Dan for a VRG GRL sourcing trip.
